Description: Many human diseases are caused by mutations in the genome. Recent advancements in DNA sequencing have identified massive amounts of rare alleles that appear to be clinically associated with a disease. Yet, definitive proof of pathogenicity remains unknown. RediMODEL is a novel way to determine if mutations in important genes cause disease. Using humanized C. elegans as a model system, we can insert individual mutations to determine if they cause disease by employing easy to use phenotypic assays. Further, any identified mutations that cause disease can be used for compound screening to find molecules that can return native function to the protein defects.
