Chen et al. used expression strains created by Knudra Transgenics to explore the roles of different isoforms of daf-16. Single-copy expression of the different isoforms identified potential problems of previous work using over-expressing multicopy transgenes. Chen et al. conclude that DAF-16A plays a more prominent role in life span control than DAF-16F

Zuela and Gruenbaum used a transgenic strain created by Knudra to explore the role of phosphorylation on matefin/SUN-1 in mitosis. The transgenic strain expressed a mutant form of matefin/SUN-1 where the Serine 43, which is typically phosphorylated, was mutated to an Alanine which cannot be phosphorylated. They observed centrosome abnormalities in about 30% of the transgenic embryos, but nearly normal embryo viability. They conclude that the phosphorylation of serine 43 in matefin/SUN-1 plays an important role in mitosis.

We first drove a vpr-1 genomic fragment containing introns and 3′ UTR (vpr-1g) in the germ line using the pie-1 promoter (pie-1p::vpr-1g). Single-copy integrants on chromosome II were used to avoid germline silencing mechanisms. Two independently generated integrated transgenes completely rescued the vpr-1(tm1411) gonad and body wall muscle mitochondrial defects
